Jeffreys Bay ("J-Bay") is one of the world's most famous surf destinations, home to Supertubes—a fast, powerful right-hand point break that hosts the annual WSL Championship Tour event. The wave connects multiple sections over nearly a kilometre, producing rides of up to 300 metres. Beyond surfing, J-Bay offers a relaxed beach town atmosphere with shells, dolphins, and an increasingly vibrant cafe culture.
Port Elizabeth Airport (PLZ) is 75 km away, with car rental recommended. J-Bay is a small town, easily navigated on foot or bicycle. The main surf beaches stretch from Supertubes through Kitchen Windows, Point, and Tubes. The town centre has accommodation, surf shops, and restaurants.

Supertubes is for experienced surfers only—fast, hollow, and powerful. Other spots along the point (Magna Tubes, Boneyards, Kitchen Windows) offer varying challenges. Beginners should try the beach breaks at Main Beach. The WSL Corona Open J-Bay brings the world's best surfers each winter. Outside surf season, the beach remains beautiful for walking and wildlife spotting.
Jeffreys Bay is located in South Africa, Eastern Cape. It sits on Indian Ocean and features golden sand beaches.
The best time to visit Jeffreys Bay is June–September (winter swells); Supertubes contest usually July. Check local weather conditions before planning your trip.
