Mirleft

Souss-Massa Region Atlantic Ocean Morocco

Mirleft is a village frozen in time, perched above the Atlantic between Tiznit and Sidi Ifni. A French Foreign Legion fort from the 1930s crowns the hill, while below, dramatic ochre cliffs plunge to sheltered coves. The main beach, Plage de Mirleft, offers excellent swimming and beginner surf; more experienced surfers head to the rocky points at either end. The town retains an authentic Moroccan character—no international chains, just simple guesthouses and tagine restaurants. Argan trees dot the surrounding hills, and the nearby village of Aglou has its own pristine beach.
