Nosy Be ("Big Island" in Malagasy) is Madagascar's premier beach destination, located off the northwest coast. The island is known for its ylang-ylang and vanilla plantations, volcanic crater lakes, and surrounding archipelago of smaller islands with pristine beaches. Nosy Komba, Nosy Tanikely (marine reserve), and Nosy Iranja are popular day-trip destinations with exceptional snorkelling and swimming.
Fascene Airport (NOS) on Nosy Be receives flights from Antananarivo and some direct international flights from Johannesburg, Nairobi, and European cities (seasonal). Ferry connections exist from the mainland port of Ankify. The main town is Hell-Ville (Andoany).

Nosy Iranja ("Turtle Island") is famous for its sandbar connecting two islands at low tide. Nosy Tanikely is a protected marine reserve with excellent snorkelling. Nosy Komba is home to black lemurs and traditional villages. Day trips to these islands are the highlight for many visitors.
