Santa Monica Beach on the southwestern coast of Boa Vista is one of the longest beaches in Cape Verde, stretching roughly 18 km. The beach is largely undeveloped, with powerful Atlantic waves, golden sand, and significant loggerhead turtle nesting activity. Its remote character sets it apart from more touristic beaches on the island.
Fly into Aristides Pereira International Airport (BVC) on Boa Vista. Santa Monica is on the island's southwest coast, roughly 25 km from Sal Rei. Access is via unpaved tracks best navigated by 4x4 or organized tour. No public transport reaches the beach directly.
